# The company itself

We apply the same thinking to Segern's tools, partnerships, spending, communication, and ways of working. A process should earn the attention it consumes. A new commitment should have the capacity behind it. A small company should not accumulate the obligations of a much larger one by accident.

We keep a record of the decisions worth remembering. Story reflections inform Chapter summaries, and the year's most useful lessons become part of a longer account we call the Book. Its purpose is to preserve judgment and context, not to turn running the company into a documentation project.
